Thank Yous:
Thank you to all caregivers that attended the Annual General Meeting of our School Council on Thursday night. All parents/guardians are welcome to come to all meetings at 6:00PM on the first Thursday of the month.
SoundKreations dance was a huge success! All of our students got to experience many different instructors and styles of dance. Thank you School Council for funding this residency and thank you to everyone who was able to come and watch and dance with us!
Technology and Digital Citizenship:
Using technology for learning and for contributing to the world in a positive way is part of what we teach at school every day. We are fortunate to have class sets of laptops and iPads for classes to sign out as well as some additional devices for teachers to use in their classrooms. We also have SmartBoards in each classroom. Many of these devices have been purchased with funds from School Council.
Teachers review our school’s Admirable Use Policy before using technology with their classes. A paper copy will be sent home to all students early next week. Please review it with your child, sign it and return it to your child’s teacher by September 20.
Naturalization Clean Up:
Our students are so fortunate to have natural to play in! Please see the message from School Council about a clean up this Friday:
Lend a hand, or a trimmer...
Naturalized area clean-up Friday, September 20th
Did you know our school's naturalized areas are not actually maintained by the CBE?
That's right. Every year, the school council organizes a volunteer clean-up of the naturalized areas to keep our outdoor spaces looking fresh, free of trash, and safe for students and neighbourhood pals to play as many games of floor-is-lava as humanly possible.
If you're picking up your student from school this Friday afternoon and have a few extra minutes to soak in the sunshine, extra hands (or cordless trimmers or pruning shears) are much appreciated!
When: Friday, Sept 20, after the noon dismissal.
What: Bring your helpful hands, garden gloves and any tools from the garden shed. The tree suckers are out in force this year, pruning shears are especially welcome!
Where: Meet on the field.
Why: Help keep the naturalized areas of Sunnyside School looking fine and feeling fresh.
Who: Parents, caregivers, unsuspecting passersby, and children are all welcome.
Here's what's happening next week:
