Dear Sunnyside School Families,

Assessment is woven throughout daily learning experiences and supports teachers in designing appropriate learning tasks and making responsive teaching adjustments. Assessment is ongoing throughout the school year, offering students multiple and varied opportunities to develop and demonstrate understanding. Assessment enables students to show growth and achievement in different contexts over a period of time.

Conferences are one way we communicate with families about student learning.  See below for a comprehensive plan for sharing learning this year:

Weekly Classroom Communication – Each teacher will be sending you an email and updating their Google classrooms.  This is a way of communicating what children are learning and how they are taking up the work in the classrooms.  Things you may see in the Google classroom are class projects, inquiries, strategies, instructions, links to websites etc.

Ongoing Communication - phone calls, emails, meetings as needed throughout the school year.

November 28 and 29 – Parent, Student & Teacher Conferences

Some of the things you might discuss during this meeting are:

  • Gains has your child made over the past 3 months
