Exciting new experiences are coming up at Sunnyside! 

 

Green Fools Circus Residency:

We are looking forward to welcoming Green Fools Circus Residency next week for the second year.  Students will learn how to take risks in a supportive environment and challenge themselves.  We hope many family members will be able to come and watch our sharing sessions on Thursday (kindergarten) and Friday (grades 1 to 6).  See details below.

 

Swimming:

Swimming lessons are coming soon for grades 1 to 6.  Please make sure that you have returned your child’s swimming ability form by Monday, January 22.  Acknowledgment of Risk forms will go home on Monday.  Please return them by Friday, January 26.  We still need many volunteers to help us supervise the students on the bus and at the pool.  Volunteers do not go in the water.  Please email your child’s teacher if you can volunteer and have an up-to-date CBE police check.

 

Family Math Night is coming on February 8 at 5:00PM!

Talking Tip:

We have been introducing the concept of resilience with our students.  According to Alberta Health Services resilience is, “the ability to bounce back from setbacks and cope with life’s ups and downs.”

Here is an AHS resource with many ideas for parents to support their children in developing resilience: 

Ask your child: What is something that was challenging for you this week? How did you feel?  What strategy did you use?
