Dear Sunnyside School Families,
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to those that volunteered during Ms. Betcher’s field trip at City Hall. Thanks to your willingness to volunteer, the trip was a great success and an unforgettable experience for all of the students. Ms. Lang’s class will be attending this week.
Please continue to return swim forms for the upcoming swimming field trip on February 3-7 (Monday through Thursday for Kindergarten). The City of Calgary is asking us to submit swimming ability forms tomorrow, Monday, January 20. We require volunteers for these lessons. If you are able to volunteer for any or all of these dates, please contact your classroom teacher.
In response to school data and school development plan goals (available for viewing on the school website), students have been learning strategies for self-regulation and peer conflict resolution. Last week, students were introduced to the Problem-Solving Wheel and how the strategies within it can be used to resolve issues. Please ask them about it at home. This week, students will be learning about the brain and what happens when we become upset, angry and frustrated. On Tuesday, each class will be participating in Bell Let’s Talk by engaging in a social emotional learning activity. Please see your classroom teachers’ email for details about how your child’s class participated.
Warm regards,
Ms. Muir
