Dear Sunnyside School Families,
As we settle into the new school year, there are a few changes around our school, including the addition of a new bus and some nearby construction. With these changes, it’s a good time to remind one another about safe routines during drop-off and pick-up. By practicing and modeling safe habits, we can help students feel confident and keep everyone moving smoothly.
Students are still practicing how to:
- Cross streets safely at corners or intersections (not between parked vehicles).
- Watch carefully for turning vehicles and traffic.
- Look in all directions before crossing.
- Make eye contact with drivers before stepping into the street.
- Stay alert and avoid distractions while walking.
- Be visible by walking in groups and wearing brighter clothing when possible.
Together, we can support our students in building safe habits for life.
Terry Fox
A big thank you to our School Council for partnering with Oxford House, who generously donated freezies for students to enjoy after our Terry Fox Run! Oxford House is excited to support Sunnyside School and this meaningful event, and we are so grateful for their generosity. Their kindness added a special treat to the day and helped make the run even more memorable for our students.
If you have a child that needs to opt out of having a freezie, please let us know.
The event will start with a short assembly at 9:30 followed by a run with music on school grounds. Mrs. Boyer is still looking for volunteers to help on the morning of the event. Volunteer roles include things like pre-cutting freezies, supporting with distribution and setting up for the run. If you are able to assist, please email her at kpboyer@cbe.ab.ca.
Warmly,
Shannon Muir
Principal, Sunnyside School
