Dear Sunnyside School Families,
The week will commence with picture day tomorrow! These are individual photos. Class photos will be taken in the spring.
Conferences and Assessment
Conference booking is live: MyCBE
Conferences will be held:
- Thursday, November 27 from 4:30 – 8:00
- Friday, November 28 from 9 – 1:30 (No School for Students Today)
Please feel free to sign up for a physical education conference with Ms. Boyer as well. As the principal and a learning support lead, I will participate in conferences for students with individual learning plans and will attend additional conferences at the request of families or teachers.
Assessment is woven throughout daily learning experiences and helps teachers design appropriate tasks and make responsive adjustments to support student growth. It is ongoing throughout the year, providing students with multiple and varied opportunities to demonstrate their understanding in different contexts over time.
Conferences are one important way to communicate with families about student learning, alongside regular classroom updates and ongoing communication through phone calls, emails, and meetings as needed. Families can expect weekly classroom communication through email and Google Classroom, where teachers share updates about learning, class projects, inquiries, strategies, and helpful resources.
Parent–student–teacher conferences occur twice during the year to discuss each child’s progress, recent growth, upcoming goals, and the supports in place. Assemblies and learning celebrations are also shared with families throughout the year. Report cards with comments and achievement indicators are made available twice annually through MyCBE, with opportunities for families to connect with teachers if they have questions or would like further conversation. Report cards will be live February 24. In addition, you can reach out to your child’s teacher at any point in the school year with questions.
