Dear Sunnyside School Families,

As we move into a busy and meaningful stretch of the school year, I wanted to share a few important updates and reminders with you. Below, you’ll find information about Bullying Awareness Week, upcoming conferences, and what to expect over the next few weeks at Sunnyside. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership—it makes such a difference in our school community.

Bullying Awareness Week

Bullying Awareness Week (November 17 to 21, 2025) is the third full week in November. The goal for this year’s  Bullying Awareness Week is to encourage students, teachers, and parents to speak up against bullying and understand how and when to seek help if needed.

CBE’s ongoing efforts focus on bullying prevention and helping students recognize risk and how they can influence positive action.

To delve deeper into bullying awareness, prevention, and support, you can explore the resources available on our website and through the Government of Alberta:

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences will be available for booking on Saturday, November 15 at 8:00 a.m. through your MyCBE Account. See our Parent-Teacher Conference page for instruction.

  • Conferences will be held:
  • Thursday, November 27 from 4:30 – 8:00
  • Friday, November 28 from 9 – 1:30 (No School for Students Today)

Should kids come to conferences?

As we approach our upcoming teacher-guided conferences, we recommend that students not attend these meetings. These conferences provide families and teachers with a private space to discuss individual student progress, academic strengths, areas for growth, and next steps in learning. Having this space allows for open, focused conversations that may include sensitive topics, including strategies to support your child’s social-emotional well-being and overall wellness. Students will have a wonderful opportunity to participate in student-led conferences in March, where they can share their own learning, reflect on their growth, and celebrate their accomplishments. We look forward to welcoming students to that event, as it is designed for them to take an active role in their learning and personal development.

Warmly,
Shannon Muir
