Please join me in warmly welcoming Teri Broome to Sunnyside School as our new continuous Administrative Secretary. Teri brings professionalism, warmth, and a genuine care for people. We are excited to have her join our school community and know she will be a wonderful addition to our team.

Please continue to use the sunnyside@cbe.ab.ca email address for any administrative support needs. Beginning Monday, May 4, Teri will be pleased to assist and support our staff, students, and families in this role.

Trickster Performance

Thank you to everyone who completed the Trickster survey. Based on the responses received, it is clear that one performance will best meet the needs of our school community.

Please save the date for Thursday, May 14. Students will need to arrive at school and head directly to their classrooms by 5:00 p.m.

A small concession will be available before the performance, with all proceeds supporting future artist residencies and student enrichment opportunities at Sunnyside School.

The performance will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to run for approximately one hour. We look forward to coming together as a school community to celebrate our students’ hard work and creativity.

Ticket sales will commence this Thursday, May 7 via classroom teachers and the school office.

School Council

School Council will be meeting this Thursday, May 7 at 6:00. Ms. Boyer will be joining and sharing about Kindergarten. We hope to see you there.

Warmer Weather and Outdoor Play

With the warmer weather, it has been wonderful to see more families enjoying our field and playground after school. Please note that school staff do not provide outdoor supervision before or after school hours, so children must be supervised by a parent or caregiver responsible for their care.

We also want to gently remind our community that our commitment to a welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe environment extends beyond the school day. During after-school play, we ask families to continue encouraging kindness, inclusion, and respectful problem-solving. Behaviours that make others feel unsafe, excluded, or upset—do not reflect the values we work to build together at Sunnyside.

If a situation between students may affect relationships, well-being, or the school environment during the school day, please connect with the school so we can help support students and maintain a positive school community. We also kindly ask that parents avoid addressing concerns directly with another child, as even well-intentioned interactions can sometimes escalate a situation.

Thank you for partnering with us to help keep Sunnyside a safe, caring, and positive place for all.

Warmly,
Shannon Muir
