Dear Sunnyside School Families,
On May 13, the Alberta government announced the Class Size Reduction Grant, a targeted provincial funding initiative intended to support classroom conditions for students in Kindergarten to Grade 9. This funding is directed to schools with identified enrolment and complexity pressures to support reductions in class sizes.
The Calgary Board of Education has been allocated funding equivalent to 362 teaching positions across the division. These positions will be distributed to schools based on established allocation criteria to support class size reduction in Kindergarten to Grade 9 core academic areas.
Sunnyside School is receiving one additional teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This is in addition to the teacher and 2 Educational Assistants that were announced in April.
Staffing assignments and class organization work for the 2026–27 school year is still underway.
Whole School Photo
Our annual whole-school photo is scheduled for June 12 at 9:15 a.m., prior to the Grade 6 PAT. Please ensure students arrive photo-ready, as the photo will take place outdoors and will take approximately 15 minutes.
Activity Day – Tuesday and Rainout June 23
Activity Day is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th from 1:30-3:38pm. The current weather forecast is calling for more rain. Our rainout date is June 23. An email will be sent tomorrow confirming if we will be moving to our rainout date.
