This week we had our first whole-school assembly! We did the Land Acknowledgement, sang O Canada, introduced each class and staff member and sang some songs. The students were very respectful and it was so great to gather together. We look forward to inviting family members to assemblies in the future.
There is always a lot to share at the beginning of the school year! Please read this message carefully so you are up to date.
Reminder about Personal Mobile Devices:
- K-9 Students: will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet - simply left at home.

Safety at School:
Safety is the highest priority at our school and we work together to make sure that safety rules are understood by all students in the school and on the playground. We will practice our Emergency Response Plans with our first planned fire drill and lockdown drill later this month.
Safety on the Way to and From School:
Please do not use the parking lot when you are dropping your children off or picking them up. This applies to cars, cyclists and walkers. Please make sure that your child knows to not walk through the parking lot.
Bike helmets are mandatory in Alberta for children 16 years and younger. If your child needs a helmet for biking, scootering or skateboarding, please email Mrs. Schmitt. We have some that have been provided from EverActive Schools.
If your child is riding a bike to school, please make sure that their lock is secure and cannot be cut easily. We have some locks to lend to students. Ask the teacher that is at the Compound door in the morning.
Progressive Discipline:
All CBE schools have the same rules for discipline and safety in order to promote a safe, caring. Teachers will be sharing the Student Code of Conduct with their classes in the first few weeks of school. Please take some time to review the documents that can be found here: https://sunnyside.cbe.ab.ca/conduct
